Homemade Baking Soda Toothpaste
· By Dara Berger
A simple, natural alternative to commercial toothpaste using ingredients you already have at home.
Most commercial toothpastes contain fluoride, artificial sweeteners, foaming agents, and other additives that many holistic health practitioners recommend avoiding — especially for young children.
Homemade Baking Soda Toothpaste Recipe: - 2 tablespoons baking soda - 1 tablespoon coconut oil (melted) - 5-10 drops peppermint essential oil (food grade) - Optional: a tiny pinch of sea salt for extra antibacterial action
Mix all ingredients together until you get a paste consistency. Store in a small glass jar. Use a small amount on your toothbrush just as you would regular toothpaste.
Baking soda is a natural whitener and helps neutralize acids in the mouth. Coconut oil has antimicrobial properties. And peppermint oil leaves your mouth feeling fresh and clean. Give it a try — your whole family might love it!
